What Participants Will Learn

By completing the program, participants will learn how to:

  • Recognise barriers that can affect a learner’s confidence with technology.

  • Provide patient digital support without taking over.

  • Break everyday technology tasks into manageable steps.

  • Use the DMN Five-Step Digital Support Method.

  • Protect privacy and personal information.

  • Recognise professional boundaries and know when to pause or refer.

  • Consider accessibility and individual learning needs.

  • Plan and deliver a simple digital support session.

  • Use the Be Connected website as an additional learning resource.

Program Structure
 

The complete program is delivered over two practical half-day sessions, followed by a separate follow-up session approximately one month later.

Day 1 — Foundations of Digital Support
 

Participants explore how to begin with the learner, provide support without taking over, build confidence, protect privacy and apply the DMN Five-Step Digital Support Method.
 

Duration: 4 hours

Day 2 — Putting Digital Support Into Practice
 

Participants explore accessibility, plan a simple support session, use the Be Connected website and practise their digital support skills through realistic activities.
 

Duration: 4 hours

Follow-Up Session
 

Participants reconnect to discuss their experiences, reflect on what worked and identify any further support or development required.
 

Timing: Approximately one month after Day 2

What Is Included?
 

Each participant receives:
 

  • Two four-hour, trainer-led practical sessions.

  • A Day 1 Participant Workbook.

  • A Day 2 Participant Workbook.

  • Group discussions and realistic workplace scenarios.

  • Practical activities using their own device.

  • Guided exploration of the Be Connected learning website.

  • A follow-up session approximately one month later.

  • A Digital Mentor Network Certificate of Completion.
     

Participant numbers are kept manageable so everyone has opportunities to ask questions, participate in discussions and practise their skills.
